One this episode of "Show & Tell", we visit with the founders of two iconic bands - Jim Babjak from the Smithereens and Jim McCarty with the Yardbirds - both in town for sold out shows in the Chicago area.  We'll celebrate two major anniversaries - 40 years for the iconic movie "the Goonies" and tell you about a performance where you can see the movie alongside a performance with the Chicago Philharmonic! And, 30 years for Riverdance, in town for one week only with Riverdance 30: the New Generation!  Then, we'll visit one of the greatest shopping extravaganzas in Chicago - the One of a Kind spring show at the Merchandise Mart!
First up, we chat with one of the founding members of the Smithereens - Jim Babjak - who will be appearing with the band for one night only at the NorthShore Center for the Performing Arts - on April 25th.  Jim talks about the band's early days, their love for Chicago and touring with guest vocalist John Cowsill. Tickets: northshorecenter.org and officialsmithereens.com
Next up, we chat with founding member of the Yardbirds Jim McCarty about recording in Chicago in the early days and how the band has spanned the generations!  Jim and the Yardbirds performed at Ron Onesti's Des Plaines Theatre this week!
Then, we celebrate the 40th anniversary of "The Goonies in Concert", which will be screened alongside the Chicago Philharmonic at the Auditorium Theatre on April 26th.  We talk with conductor Thiago Tiberio about how many times he watched the film in order to sync the music with the movie and the amazing soundtrack and music in the film that has made it a fan favorite for generations! Tickets: Chicagophilharmonic.org
And speaking of fan favorites throughout the generations, Riverdance is back in Chicago for one week only - at the Cadillac Palace Theatre through April 27th. But this is a whole new performance - Riverdance 30: The New Generation.  We talk with tap sensation Kenji Igus about getting his start in tap at 6, performing in LA dance clubs, and bringing new facets to this iconic performance - including tap and flamenco, in addition to the traditional Irish dance and costumes. Tickets: BroadwayinChicago.com
We wrap everything up with a beautiful bow as we had to the Merchandise Mart for the "One-of-a-Kind" Spring Show April 25-27!  We'll talk with Show Director Kathleen Hogan about the 300+ vendors this year at the show - featuring everything from paintings to clothing...woodworking to acrylics...and best of all delicious delicacies from restaurants and shops all across Chicago.
