Who Cares for the Caregivers: Dr. Janet McMordie on Vitals and Frontline Families Canada

View descriptionShare

Vitals is a solo show running May 2 to 10 at Factory Theatre in Toronto, and Dr. Janet McMordie says the question at the centre of it is one medicine does not answer well enough.

The show follows Anna, a paramedic whose life reaches a breaking point, and what happens when someone finally offers her permission to not be okay. Dr. Janet McMordie did a ride-along with Peel Regional Paramedics to prepare, and came home having felt every emotion in a single shift. She says it reminded her how vulnerable paramedics are walking into strangers' homes with no idea what they will find.

Proceeds raise awareness for Frontline Families Canada, a non-profit started by first responders supporting families of fallen first responders through retreats and programming for kids.

Topics: Vitals play Toronto, Frontline Families Canada, paramedic mental health, Factory Theatre Toronto, first responder support
