Apple devices leave a store in the hands of thieves. Then someone switches one on. Kris Abel’s account gives you a different way to think about connected technology: what can the original owner still tell a device to do after it’s gone?

Now bring that question of control into your living room. Would a robot earn your trust by helping with chores, or by recognising you and responding like a companion? Reported plans from Apple and Meta put different versions of that future within imagining distance.

And how far should a marathon be when its entrants are babies? Forget the usual finish-line expectations. A miniature course and some inventive equipment make movement itself the reason to celebrate, with parents there to encourage every step.

Topics: Apple, stolen devices, home robots, human-machine interaction, first steps
