Disney Infinity Vision is the new premium format launching the same weekend as Avengers Doomsday. The full announcement is laser projection and premium audio. No other specifications have been confirmed. Dune Part III has the IMAX contract.
What does it feel like to be the biggest franchise in the world and show up to the most important opening weekend in years without the best screen in the building? Infinity Vision needs the biggest possible screen available, according to Disney. Steve Stebbing says that sounds like AVX. AVX is already in Canadian theatres.
Three other movies are opening this weekend without any of this baggage. One has a journalist's daughter turning up in an 8,000-year-old sarcophagus. One is the Canadian autobiographical film about being 24 in Montreal that took forever to get a release. One has Ian McKellen's kids forging his unfinished paintings. All of them will screen somewhere.
