NEW - Smart Speakers: The MP Who Said Never. Then Did It Anyway

View descriptionShare

Customer service above and beyond has a hundred-thousand-dollar price tag on it tonight, and so does crossing a conservative floor to the Liberals. Both decisions landed this week. Neither one is easy to explain.

The Hundred Thousand Dollar Diet Coke

Chris White at 20 Victoria in Toronto makes an evening feel like the most special thing you've done in months without announcing that's what he's doing. A Banff Springs server overheard the word marshmallow, walked away, and came back with sticks and chocolate without being asked. A pizza delivery driver bought a Diet Coke with his own money, twenty-six days before retirement, and said nothing about it. Jamie Ellerton put it plainly: these are people who take pride in what they do.

Why Are Conservatives Leaving and What Are the Liberals Offering?

Five conservative MPs have now crossed the floor to Mark Carney's Liberals, and Marilyn Gladue is the most baffling one yet. She ran to lead the party six years ago, publicly argued floor-crossers should face a by-election, and then became one. Doug Ford told voters a liberal majority would be a good thing. Pierre Poilievre is running out of ways to explain any of this away.

Topics: customer service above and beyond, floor crossing Canada, Marilyn Gladue, Doug Ford liberal majority, Pierre Poilievre caucus

GUEST: Jamie Ellerton | conaptus.com and Lindsay Broadhead | broadheadcomms.ca
