Quebec's oath to the King raises a question beyond whether you like the monarchy. Andrew Caddell helps separate that preference from the constitutional argument, explaining why he supports a challenge despite not calling himself a staunch monarchist.

But how does that dispute land when groceries, housing and health care compete for attention? Andrew has a pointed view of what politicians risk when a symbolic fight becomes the focus. The argument over the rules is also an argument over priorities.

Closer to home, heating retrofit funding brings a different test: what does the announcement mean for the equipment already in your house? Quebec's baseboard heaters and the interest in heat pumps elsewhere give Andrew another way to assess the week's politics.
