Divorced dads know the visit isn't always the hardest part. Sometimes it's closing the door afterwards. Eran Magen offers a personal account that can help you recognise the fear, grief and guilt behind that moment, and see a way beyond simply enduring it.

When his marriage ended unexpectedly, Eran questioned more than the relationship. He wondered whether he was a good person and whether his son was better off without him. How do you rebuild your footing when that story starts sounding true?

Then came a handoff that changed what he did with the hours apart. Building a life beyond fatherhood raised an uncomfortable question: can you enjoy yourself while still wishing your child were there? Eran has a way of approaching that guilt from another direction.
