Diesel prices can reach your wallet even if you never touch a diesel pump. Dan McTeague helps you connect the fuel bill to groceries and heating, with different short-term forecasts for anyone deciding when to fill up.

If overseas disruption explains the squeeze, why does Canada’s own currency matter so much? The exchange rate and taxes add another layer to the price you pay. Dan puts a figure on the dollar’s impact that could change how you read the next pump increase.

A cheaper litre today sounds like a win. But releasing reserves and restricting exports aren’t the same remedy. One promises immediate relief; the other raises a question about what happens when producing more diesel becomes less worthwhile. Which costs could come back later?

Topics: diesel prices, gasoline prices, Canadian dollar, fuel taxes, diesel reserves
