Good News Tuesday: When a Stranger Decides You Are Worth Showing Up For

View descriptionShare

Good news habits run on one rule: it counts if it counts to you. You text in your maple syrup evaporator finally running on a Tuesday night and that is enough. It does not need to compete with the doctor who adopted her patient or the wife who found her husband under the snow. It just needs to be yours.

But tonight the big ones showed up anyway. A boy named True had no one at his heart surgery in Nebraska until a pediatric anesthesiologist named Amy Beath decided to change that permanently. A man named Michael Harris was buried under an avalanche fifty miles east of Seattle for four hours while his wife Penny used Find My iPhone to bring help to the exact right spot. And a teenager named Brandon Simmons, who had gone from a car accident to paralysis to standing again, opened his door to find Shaquille O'Neal on the other side.

The small wins and the enormous ones live on the same list. That is not accidental. That is the point.

Topics: good news habits, Good News Tuesday, adoption stories, avalanche rescue, acts of kindness
