Was 2007 the last great year of analog life? RetroOntario's Ed Conroy takes us back to the moment when the digital world was beginning to change how we lived, connected and spent our time. The technology was exciting, the internet felt different, and nobody quite knew what was coming.

Remember when Facebook was actually about your friends? When message boards were communities, digital cameras were a novelty and getting your first iPhone felt like discovering the future? Something about that period still feels remarkably close, yet strangely distant.

Now vinyl records and VHS tapes are finding their way back into our lives. Is it simply nostalgia, or are we searching for something we left behind? Ed considers the unexpected appeal of the analog world and what happened to the experiences we once had together.

Topics: 2007 nostalgia, analog technology, early social media, iPhone history, physical media
