The Utica Zoo is saying goodbye to two of its most familiar residents—Axl and Ace, the Visayan warty pigs. These pigs weren’t just a staple of the zoo’s exhibits—they were part of its heart. At nearly seventeen years old, Axl and Ace were far beyond the typical lifespan for their species. And over the past year, their health had been steadily declining. Zoo officials say the decision to euthanize them wasn’t made lightly.
