In this bonus episode of Selective Ignorance, Mandii B, A-King, and Jason “Jah” Lee are joined by special guest Soop from the Selective Ignorance Classmates Discord for a deep dive into TV, movies, reboots, streaming, AI, and pop culture. The crew kicks things off with a spoiler warning [00:00] before briefly revisiting the Converse controversy and boycott culture[01:00] and debating whether voting can create more meaningful change than consumer boycotts [04:18]. From there, they get into the buzz around Black television reboots[05:44], LionessSeason 3 [08:43], its Aaliyah twist [09:36], dating people with dangerous careers [11:06], kids knowing more than their parents realize [12:20], and Joe choosing revenge [14:55]. They discuss potential spin-offs and Taylor Sheridan’s expanding television universe[18:47], rate the season and its flashbacks [21:48], then move into DC’s Lanterns and its timeline jumps [24:28] and Green Lantern casting [25:31]. The conversation shifts to the troubled Blade reboot [27:12], race and Terrence Howard[30:18], Denzel Washington joining the Black Panther universe[31:55], The Hunger Games[35:52], and the movies and shows they’d personally like to see rebooted [40:17].

The nostalgia leads to Short Circuit and Johnny Five as the crew jokes about old-school movies accidentally warning us about artificial intelligence[44:14], why they’re polite to ChatGPT [46:11], AI stalkers [46:47], and a particularly wild robot-vibrator future [47:00]. They make plans for a Marvel field trip [47:55], confess their binge-watching habits [48:13], discuss the Friday the 13th prequel Crystal Lake[49:19], tease a Theranos documentary conversation [50:09], and share their favorite A24 projects [52:39] before giving some The Drop shoutouts [52:50]. The crew reacts to P-Valley entering its final season [53:47], debates increasingly short TV seasons [54:16], reflects on Ice-T’s dream career[55:10], and traces the origins of Fight Land and Power[56:04]. Finally, Mandii reveals she’s watching The Wire[58:16], sparking the inevitable The Wire versus Snowfall conversation [01:00:06], before the crew plugs Patreon and Discord [01:02:12], calls out the community [01:02:42], and closes with final credits [01:05:34].
