Prof. Pitika Ntuli was born in Springs, east of Johannesburg and it is said that he grew up with a keen interest in art. As a young man, he got involved in politics, and he was an active member of the struggle against the apartheid government to which resulted in him being exiled from South Africa.
He has an illustrious career in the arts - having been an advisor to the department of Arts and Culture and using the arts to amplify the voice of the voiceless.
Two years ago, he was honoured in the Van Toeka Af Living Legends Recognition Seriesm which is an initiative of the department of arts and culture and it is meant to recognise living legends in the creative and cultural sector.
He is also the recipient of the, Ntuli was awarded the Global Fine Art people’s choice award. And this is one of the many accolades that he has.
