The Democratic Alliance leader John Steenhuisen has cautioned President Cyril Ramaphosa that the Government of National Unity (GNU) could be at risk if he proceeds with signing the Basic Education Laws Amendment (Bela) Bill into law this Friday. Steenhuisen argues that signing the bill would breach both the letter and spirit of the GNU’s statement of intent, which underpins the co-governance agreement. 

Question: For how long can the GNU function and hold off any squabbles before political party policy differences start posing becoming a problem?
