Police Minister Bheki Cele officially opened the Makhaza Police Station that's been on the cards for about two decades. The only other police station that is closest to the Makhaza community had been in Harare, more than ten kilometres away.

The new police station comes at a cost of R23 million and though it is a temporary structure, the minister has assured the community that Makhaza Police Station had all the services needed by the community.
