Defend our Democracy Movement is urging individuals and organisations to register to observe the 2024 elections. The organisation says observers help protect the integrity of the elections in a politically non-partisan way. The Movement has also called on civil society organisations across the country to collectively observe the elections and share feedback into a common app system. Calls for individuals & organisations to register as election observers

Speculation around a possible imminent move by the Prosecutor of International Criminal Court against senior Israeli leadership is growing with several Israeli media now reporting that officials there believe the Court could issue warrants of arrest soon. I.C.C. Prosecutor Karim Khan has not commented, but media reports suggest potential warrants could be issued in relation to the blocking of humanitarian aid that led to starvation in Gaza, but also to members of Hamas over actions emanating from the October 7th attacks. As  SAFMNews '  correspondent Sherwin Bryce-Pease tells us, some Israeli-Hebrew media also report that the United States is being intensely lobbied to use its leverage to prevent the ICC from acting.

Local residents have now taken to the streets of Nyanga and Khayelitsha townships in protest of this threatening trend. The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has called on authorities to urgently investigate allegations that the newly-formed Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party reportedly falsified signatures it submitted to the commission for consideration ahead of next month's elections. This comes after the party recently dismissed one of its senior members, Jabulani Khumalo.
