The Johannesburg High Court confirmed that Kenny Kunene’s repeated reference to Julius Malema as a “cockroach” during a televised interview in 2021 violated the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act (Equality Act). 

The Special Tribunal is being relocated from the Booysens Magistrates’ Court in Johannesburg to a private office building in Pretoria. The move, revealed in a Government Gazette notice, has sparked controversy due to a lack of consultation with current leadership and concerns over the potential impact on the Tribunal’s effectiveness and independence.
