South Africa’s unemployment rate has eased slightly — down to 31.9% in the third quarter, from 33.2% in the previous quarter — offering a glimmer of hope in an economy long burdened by joblessness. According to Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), this translates to 17.1 million people employed, although eight million remain out of work.
