1.    Malawi- Lilongwe

Malawians have decided, results still trickling and Malawi Law Society Slams DPP and MCP for Premature Victory Claims

The Malawi Law Society (MLS) has come out swinging against both the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), accusing them of recklessly declaring victory from unofficial tallies and undermining the authority of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

Chad votes to allow president to run unlimited times

Chad's national assembly has endorsed constitutional revisions that would extend the presidential term from five to seven years and allow the president to serve an unlimited number of times.

 

3.    South Sudan – United Nations commission on Human Rights

Government Corruption Fuels Human Rights Crisis in South Sudan, Independent Panel Finds

In South Sudan, "systemic government corruption" and "brazen predation" on the part of political elites have created a human rights crisis that must be urgently addressed, the UN Commission on Human Rights in the country said in a new report issued on Tuesday.

 

4.    In our historical archives, it was on this day 18 September 1992 when the Mass funeral for the victims of Bisho massacre was held.

More than 70 000 angry mourners gathered at King William's Town, to pay their respects to the victims of the Bisho Massacre, who were shot to death by the Ciskei Defence Force troops on 7 September 1992.
