  1. Chad – N’Djamena, Military leader Mahamat Idriss Deby has won a closely watched presidential election in the country of Chad, according to provisional results released by its National Election Management Agency.

 

  1. Kenya – South Sudan, High-level mediation talks for South Sudan were launched yesterday in Kenya with African presidents in attendance calling for an end to the conflict that has crippled South Sudan’s economy for years.

 

  1. Senegal – Dakar, A Boeing 737 plane carrying 85 people skidded off a runway at the airport in Dakar, Senegal’s capital, injuring 10 people, according to the transport minister and footage from a passenger that showed the aircraft on fire.

 

  1. Zimbabwe- Zambia- Uganda and Kenya, Southern African countries Zimbabwe and Zambia, once regional food basket and a significant supplier of grain to East Africa, now faces a substantial deficit, prompting them to turn to Uganda and Kenya for maize.
