According to a Southern Africa Towards Inclusive Economic Development study released this year, a woman makes 78 cents for every rand a man earns and widens gender segregation in the labour market. This rise has major implications on how women can take care of their families, how they access quality basic services, acquiring of assets and what opportunities become available. Furthermore, the same study highlighted the rise of women-headed households across the country at 42,2% and that half of all households in the rural areas are headed by women.
