According to a Reuters report, the United States is discouraging other governments from attending next week's High-Level United Nations conference on re-invigorating the two-state solution between Palestinians and Israelis. The news agency cites a U.S. diplomatic cable sent earlier this week. In the cable the US warn countries that taking "anti-Israel actions" after the conference, will be viewed as acting in opposition to U.S. foreign policy interests and possible diplomatic consequences from Washington.
This comes as the United States is evacuating non-essential staff and families from certain missions and military bases in the region. This amidst an apparent deadlock in nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran over advancements in Tehran's nuclear programme. Sherwin Bryce-Pease reports on these and other developments.
