The National Health Department has warned of a rising rate of mortality from Non-Communicable Diseases with significant increases in deaths due to cardiovascular diseases, cancer and chronic respiratory diseases. According to Stats South Africa, NCD's account for 57.8 percent of all deaths, with 60 percent occuring prematurely before the age of 70 years. He launched his campaign in Elsie's River, pledging to renew and strengthen the party ahead of the April federal congress. Meanwhile, Gauteng DA leader Solly Msimanga has thrown his hat in the ring for the federal chairperson position. The DA opened its nomination process for its congress yesterday. Meanwhile, the chairperson of the party's Federal Council, Hellen Zille, announced this week that she will step down as chairperson of the Federal Council. The decision comes as the DA won a by-election in Johannesburg's Ward 102, clearing the way for its mayoral candidate, Zille, to join the metro's council.
