Community members around Stilfontein in the North West have called on government to urgently assist in the rescue of suspected illegal miners who are trapped underground. This as they prepare to use a rope to pull out Zama zamas who have not had food nor water ever since the police, together with the SANDF, cut off supply routes to the miners. Its estimated around four thousand miners remain underground while some have allegedly died of suspected starvation dehydration.
