The letter stemmed from anonymous allegations that Mkhwanazi protected a prison official linked to drug activities. While Mkhwanazi has confirmed IPID withdrew the letter two weeks ago, questions linger as the watchdog has not clarified whether the broader investigation has been discontinued.
