Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member of the North West Legislature and the party's Lekwa-Teemane mayoral candidate, Justice Dabampe, has been released on R500 bail. This follows his arrest  for allegedly disrupting voting proceedings at a polling station at Utlwanang Township outside Christiana. Dabampe reportedly demanded to take photographs inside the polling station while voting was underway. He faces charges of contravening the Electoral Act 73 of 1998 and intimidation of IEC officials. With the local government elections underway across the country several communities in Johannesburg are still having to live with little to no water. This is despite Johannesburg Mayor, Dada Morero, saying that water supply to affected communities is being restored at a steady pace. According to Johannesburg Water, their systems have recovered to more than 41-percent, up from 37-percent over the weekend. Sashin Naidoo reports...

The Electoral Commission says its nearly 24-thousand voting stations are ready for today's Local Government Elections. Over 29-million registered voters are expected to cast their ballots, with stations opening at 7am and closing at 9pm. Chairperson Mosotho Moepya says all ballot papers and election materials have been distributed and has appealed for tolerance and peace. Voters are reminded to bring a Smart ID Card, green barcoded ID book or Temporary Identity Certificate.
