The South African Weather Service has escalated warnings for heavy rainfall, issuing an Orange Level 9 alert for disruptive rain leading to widespread flooding from yesterday, Sunday, into today, Monday. This affects eastern parts of Limpopo's Mopani District, Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga, and Collins Chabane Local Municipality. The region has already seen significant downpours and heightened flood risks, Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC Meteorologist Mduduzi Mthembu.

Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube says the National Senior Certificate exams remain one of the biggest and most complex national operations in the country. Gwarube says the 2025 National Senior Certificate exams, written by over 900-thousand learners, were largely conducted smoothly across more than 7-thousand centres. Gwarube was addressing delegates at the MTN Innovation Centre in Johannesburg where Top 40 NSC exam learners were announced.Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Luyanda Ndlozi, one of the top matriculant achievers from Elangwane Secondary School in Mpumalanga

Electricity supply to the Koedoespoort areas of East Lynne and surrounding suburbs  has now been fully restored. This after parts of the city of Tshwane were plagued by power outages since the 26 of December last year.  The city says while bulk supply has been restored there may be isolated single households still experiencing power interruptions due to phase -related issues. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Lindela Mashigo, City of Tshwane spokesperson

This came out during President Cyril Ramaphosa's delivery of the party's January 8 Statement at Moruleng Stadium, outside Rustenburg YESTERDAY. The ANC's main 114th birthday celebrations were attended by thousands of party faithfuls, leaders from the alliance partners, as well as fraternal parties, which included Zanu-PF from Zimbabwe, Mozambique's Frelimo, MPLA of Angola and Namibai's ruling party, Swapo, as well as diplomats from Cuba, Venezuela and Palestine, among others.
