Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson has alegedly halted the funding of Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) for the Free State's Matjhabeng Local Municpality. The move follows reports that politically connected individuals in the municipality were receiving inflated salaries through the programme. Certain individuals reportedly earn over 31 thousand rand per month which is more than ten times the average EPWP stipend.
