Gauteng Transport MEC, Kedibone Dialle Thlabela says every road user is bound by the rules of the country's roads and the private scholar transport operators are no exception. Thlabela was speaking during a government operation which led to the impoundment of over 60 unroadworthy, unlicensed and overloaded scholar transport vehicles in the south of Johannesburg. The operation comes as 14 Gauteng families prepare to lay their children to rest after their scholar transport vehicle attempted to overtake a number of cars before colliding with a truck earlier this week. Speaking during a joint media briefing on the preliminary investigations into the crash, Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi and Basic Education Minister, Siviwe Gwarube, outlined steps being taken amid mounting pressure for government to reform the sector. For more on what this tragedy means for the sector, Bongiwe Zwane spoke to the Spokesperson for the Greater Gauteng Learner Transport Organisation, Sibongile Maseko
