The Cape Town Marathon which was supposed to have taken place this morning, has been cancelled due to safety concerns. Gale force winds blew over temporary structures along the route which could've jeopardised the safety of runners and spectators. Twenty-four thousand runners entered the race, some of whom had already arrived at the starting point when it was called off at 5 AM. It is also a set back for the organisers.
