Eskom is warning political parties, candidates and campaign teams against placing election posters on electricity infrastructure ahead of the November local government elections. The power utility says attaching posters to electricity poles, transformers and substations poses serious safety risks, including electric shocks, severe burns and death. Eskom urges all election stakeholders to use authorised advertising structures and warns that unauthorised material may be removed to protect public safety and critical infrastructure.
