Mpumalanga Community Safety MEC Jackie Macie has condemned the temporary closure of the N4 at Schoemanskloof, following alleged violence involving suspected illegal miners in the Mashoboto area. The closure caused major traffic delays and disrupted motorists. A second body has since been discovered near the N4, while police investigate possible links to illegal mining. Tourism and business representatives are calling for stronger security measures, including possible SANDF support. Business chamber calls for SANDF deployment in Mpumalanga 

Public outcry continues to pour over reports that the e‑Panic Button App, a tool residents rely on in moments of danger, exposed their most sensitive personal information. University computer science students discovered the flaws while analysing the app's code last week. The Gauteng Legislature's Portfolio Committee on e‑Government, Research & Development has described the breach as larming and most corncerning while the DA has called for an immediate investigation into the extent of the exposure of sensitive information belonging to residents who used the app to report crimes. Concerns Raised Over Alleged Breach of User Information on e‑Panic Button App

Non-governmental organisation, My Vote Counts has written to political parties asking that they outline their plans for coalition negotiations before the local government elections on November the 4th. They argue that voters should have this information before casting their ballot. Meanwhile, Africa Check, another non-governmental organisation says after it has extensively followed political party election manifestos, voters could easily swift through the rhetoric and formulate a strong understanding of these manifestos. Political analyst from the University of the Free State, Professor Sethulego Matebisi however has called on the electorate to take up the responsibility of fixing the country's challenges.
