Former Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has highlighted the protection of whistle-blowers as one of the measures to fight corruption in South Africa.  Speaking at the Nelson Mandela University's Fisheries Law Enforcement Academy's Anti-corruption Conference, Zondo also highlighted the importance of whistleblowers in the fight for a corruption-free South Africa and the role of the Government of National Unity.

Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Jomo Sibiya, conducted a joint in loco inspection at the Ormonde site in Johannesburg South, alongside City of Joburg leadership. The death toll in the building collapse in Ormonde, south of Johannesburg has risen to NINE.  The Johannesburg Emergency Services says its team has managed to locate the third person from the rubble of the collapsed building AND rescue teams are currently engaged in the extraction process. The Democratic Alliance says thousands of Gauteng residents are going hungry after the provincial government's centralisation of food banks. Despite recorded beneficiaries, households are struggling to access food due to logistical barriers. The DA blames the centralisation, saying it has created bottlenecks and ignored warnings. Food parcel distribution targets are being met, but households accessing food are falling short. The party is proposing decentralising food distribution to end hunger.
