South African motorists are set to get some relief at the pumps from Wednesday with petrol prices coming down by 52 cents per litre. Diesel prices are rising sharply, alongside increases in illuminating paraffin, raising concerns about the knock-on effects for transport, food prices and the wider economy. The South African Petroleum Retailers Association is warning that these increases could ultimately be passed on to consumers. Banyana Banyana are banking on momentum, some luck and a favour from Ivory Coast as they go in search of a quarterfinal berth in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco. The South African women's football team must beat Burkina Faso in their last Group B match in Casablanca this evening and hope Ivory Coast does the same to Tanzania to stay alive in the tournament. And coach Desiree Ellis realises this is their last chance saloon. SAfm sports anchor has more Jon Gericke.

SABC News has reliably learnt that the police officer who failed to link the gun in the Armand Swart murder to several other murder and attempted murder cases, has been cleared of wrong doing on two charges and found guilty on two others by an internal SAPS disciplinary hearing. An expedited disciplinary process found forensic analyst Captain Laurence Makgotloe guilty of dishonesty in issuing a corrected ballistic report and changing the dates on which the report was corrected. In the second charge, Makgotloe was found guilty of contravening the SAPS code of conduct by failing to use resources to identify a firearm that was handed to him. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Legal Analyst, Nthabiseng Dubazana....
