Statistics South Africa began its countrywide 2018 census for commercial agriculture yesterday. About 600 field staff have been deployed to visit commercial farms in various parts of the country to establish the number and size of farms and crop types being grown in different areas. The census seeks to help Stats SA to get a full picture of commercial farming, its contribution to the economy as well as how many people the sector employs.

The 7th Africa Tourism Leadership Forum being held in Gabarone, Botswana seeks to strengthen public and private partnership for tourism in Africa and grow tourism figures from Africans in the continent. The forum is being convened by the Botswana Tourism Organisation, the Africa Tourism Partners and the United Nations Tourism. It brings together tourism leaders from across the Africa with the aim of increasing tourism on the continent. Tourism leaders convene in Gaborone

The Joburg Theatre says, it is proud and thrilled to finally welcome the cast and crew of "Siddhartha the Musical" to South Africa. The group from the Phillippines will be performing their world renowned production for the first time in Africa. The play tells the story of Prince Siddhartha who was born into a wealthy family however went on a soul searching journey to seek a more simple life, filled with wisdom, compassion and enlightenment. The play will be performed on the 11th and 12th of May at the Joburg Theatre. The production which has been staged in 15 other countries across the world was expected in South Africa in 2019 however, the COVID pandemic prevented this.  Prabashini Moodley has more...

International musical set to wow Joburg audiences

The Hlanganisa Community Fund, an organisation seeking to strengthen social accountability and promote human rights says, very little attention has been paid to the issues affecting women. The organisation has conducted a gender analysis of election manifestos of five political parties namely, the ANC, DA, IFP, FFP and the EFF.  The study reveal that issues such as gender based violence, job creation, access to healthcare, the energy crisis are not addressed in the context of it's greater impact on women.  Prabashini Moodley reports...
