Represented by three teams of Mens, Women and Quads, Wheelchair Tennis South Africa (WTSA) returned home on Monday (20 May 2019) on the heels of semi-final exits at the week-long Paribas World Team Cup in Israel. Narrowly missing out on making the final after losing to the host nation in the semi-finals, the quads team of Lucas Sithole, Danny Mohlamonyane and Donald Ramphadi defeated Great Britain 2-1 in the 3/4 place playoffs to clinch the bronze medal. Making history by reaching the semi-finals for the first time, the Women’s squad of Kgothatso Montjane, Mariska Venter and Mabel Mankgele finished in 4th after losing 2-0 to Britain. South Africa’s number 1 ranked disabled tennis player Lucas Sithole reflects on the tournament.
