Molly Lamar on Cherry Creek Schools continuing free fall from grace; Manny Rutinel not ready for primetime

View descriptionShare

Cherry Creek Schools is facing yet another federal investigation, this time over allegations of racial discrimination. The US Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights is looking into claims that the district sponsors clubs that exclude students based on race, requires teachers to consider race when assigning classes, and provides differing levels of academic support based on race. This is not the first time the district has been under scrutiny, having previously faced an investigation by the Colorado Department of Education for failing to provide interpreters for deaf and hard of hearing students.

The investigation has sparked concerns among parents and community members, who are calling for a thorough search for a new superintendent and a focus on academic achievement. The district has been plagued by executive shakeups, hidden records, and sudden departures, leading to a systemic breakdown at the top. A parent committee, the Voices of Color Committee, has been accused of granting preferential treatment to students based on their race, while a teacher training program has been criticized for promoting a divisive curriculum.

Molly Lamar, a concerned parent and advocate, joins the show to discuss the situation and share her personal experiences with the district. She expresses frustration with the district's handling of the investigation and the lack of transparency in their response. The district's spokesperson has denied the characterization of their programming, but the investigation is ongoing.

Also, Democrat Manny Rutinel is trying to distance himself from far left political stances he took not long ago as a coastal liberal elite Yale law student against oil and gas, as well as farmers and ranchers - two key constituencies he must win over in order to defeat Congressman Gabe Evans (R) this November, should Rutinel be able to defeat Shannon Bird in the 8th District primary.

Tune in to hear the full conversation with Molly Lamar and learn more about the investigation and its implications for the Cherry Creek Schools community, along with Ryan's humorous take on Comrade Kyle's takedown of Manny Rutinel in the 8th Congressional Democratic primary debate.
