Blitzboks legend Frankie Horne says he is excited about the current Springbok Sevens team and believes they can go all the way and win the HSBC World Sevens Series this season. South Africa top the standings after two rounds, but suffered a few major injury blows with Kyle Brown ruled out for the rest of the season and Cecil Afrika ruled out for four weeks. The injuries however give an opportunity for a few youngsters to make their mark. Junior Springbok star Zain Davids and Siviwe Soyizwapi will make their debuts in Wellington this weekend and Horne has high hopes for the new players. Seabelo Senatla and Kwagga Smith have also been included in the squad for the next two legs of the World Sevens Series, but thereafter will return to their Super Rugby franchises and will not be available for Sevens duty. Before and during last year's Olympic Games a few Fifteens players also tried their hand at Sevens Rugby and Horne believes that if you are young enough you can still spilt your attention between the two formats. Horne was part of the squads that finished runners up for four years in a row. The last two years, Fiji dominated the series and were crowned champions and the two years before that New Zealand won the title. Horne says the reason those two countries have had the upper hand is because rugby is one of the first sports children learn to play in the country. Horne devoted the last ten years of his life to serving Springbok Sevens rugby and he says he can't imagine a life without rugby. The 33-year old says he is in the process of starting an academy to help teach young kids the basics of rugby, but added that he is also keeping himself busy with a few non-rugby activities.
