Redlands Mayor Jos Mitchell told Peter Psaltis on 4BC's Special Coverage, "At the moment we've got some ferry services starting to operate again thankfully. So today Sealink has opened up barge services just for emergency services use."

"We're asking residents to be very patient, but to be reassured that they [Energex and emergency crews] are doing absolutely everything they can to get everything working again."

Redlands Mayor calling for 'patience' as some ferry services return amid widespread power outages

For the most part Ipswich has dodged the worst of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred and the rain that it has brought, but there are still plenty of questions around services resuming, whether or not school is returning and how long the clean-up will take.

Ipswich City Mayor Teresa Harding told Peter Psaltis on 4BC's Special Coverage, "Ipswich City Council actually downgraded its alert for people to stay informed, so people are free to go out, go to the shops, you know, go out and about."

"We just ask you to stay informed, keep in touch with the Ipswich Disaster Dashboard to look at those warnings."

"There is still that chance of the potential flash floods which obviously is not great on roads so just drive really safely and we're really hopeful that ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred's impacts are starting to ease but we'll continue to closely monitor the situation," Ipswich Mayor Harding said.

The Gold Coast has been hit incredible hard by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred and conditions are still poor.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate told Peter Psaltis on 4BC's Special Coverage, "If it starts to sunshine late morning, people are going to want to go to the beach and my warning is that there's a lot of hidden danger...Stay away from the foreshore and it'll be much appreciated".

We'll come through and we're feeling for Brisbane now, Alfred's moving along that way and so as per usual for everyone out there, listen to messages."

Tom Tate surfaces to provide update on conditions on the Gold Coast

Energex crews are working hard to try and restore power to as many Queenslanders as possible and as quickly as possible.

Over 315,000 customers were without power earlier today, with the current number below 280,000.

Energex Spokesperson Danny Donald told Peter Psaltis on 4BC's Special Coverage, "A lot of our crews out there this morning don't have power too so we emphasises with you."

"The girls and the guys out there, they're coming back with smiles on their faces and leaving with smiles on their faces, they just want to get it done too."
