Older girls need love too!!! Meet Chloe, the sassy older gal in our shelter here at Van Buren County Animal Control. She came to the shelter as an owner-surrender along with another GSD when the family needed to move out of the country. It was very costly and a long process to go through to get all of the medical clearances needed for international travel. While Chloe and her fur siblings couldn't make the move, they were not easily left behind. It was a very tear-filled moment at the shelter. Chloe is 8 years old and is looking for a nice fenced in yard to rest her old bones in on sunny days and to venture out into during the colder temps. She would love to have a nice floor in the living room to take her afternoon naps on. She is still quite active, so don't let her age fool you. This well-seasoned girl is 'selectively' active. The days of wildly running are for the pups and this girl has no problem passing them up for quality loving and relaxing walks. Chloe has lived with other German Shepherds in the past and would do okay (with proper introductions) with larger breed dogs. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the tolerance for smaller dogs and cats and will require a home free of them. She walks very nicely on leash and loves to just wander and sniff. She meanders around sniffing and 'patrolling' the play yard here at the shelter. Chloe even occasionally buries her furry face into the snow just like a young pup. Chloe would likely do well in a home with one other large dog but would be great as a lone dog as well. She has been in a home with middle school aged children. She would love to go on regular walks. (Dog parks may not be ideal since there are small dogs that visit them as well.) Chloe is a beautiful girl just looking for a calm family to spend her remaining years with.
