We're licking armpits now?!?!?!?!

We would like everyone to meet Alana. She is an Alaskan Malamute mix. She is 11 years old and is longing for the comfort of a nice soft place to rest her bones. This poor girl has had two other homes in her long years before she found herself as a stray. The newer owner decided to surrender her due to her escaping often as a result of developing anxiety with younger children. She also has some separation anxiety, so a family that is home often is best for her. Alana is good with smaller dogs and can be selective on larger dogs. Overall, Alana is a great dog. She is simply becoming a bit finicky in her older age. The original owner decided to pay for the future adoption of Alana in hopes that she would find a home sooner. We all recognize that older dogs are more often overlooked at the shelters. Her original owner knows this and is why she sponsored the adoption of Alana. She didn't want the cost of adopting "an old dog" to be the reason she was left to finish out her life in the confines of a shelter. Alana is spayed and vaccinated. We want to see Alana get as much love as this poof-ball can get in her life. She would love to have a large, securely fenced yard to roam and explore, or someone who can walk her regularly. She is a highly active girl for being as mature as she is. Alana is selective on treats and food. She has a refined palate and loves to have some canned food as part of her daily diet. She 'talks' to us regularly about finding a home away from the shelter and we couldn't help but feature her this month. Even though we are participating in Bissell Pet Foundation's Holiday Hope edition of Empty the Shelters, Alana will cost nothing to adopt! Please contact Van Buren County Animal Control at 269-621-4624 or visit the shelter at 58040 County Road 681, Hartford, MI 49057 to learn more about beautiful Alana.
