Ahead of hitting the stage at Audacy’s Stars and Strings, Randy Houser sat down with Rob + Holly to talk new music and why he's feeling less pressure these days.
After sharing he got to go golfing, and check out the casino at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino the night before his performance. Randy got to chatting about his new track “Note To Self,” and the importance of using his platform to say something meaningful.
“In country music we have such a platform to say something, and sometimes the songs are so mindless," Randy expressed. “And I feel like… let’s write about things that are gonna affect people, not just elevator music y’know.” Adding "I think it’s a great song, and it makes people think.”
Admittedly more comfortable putting his personal life into his music, Randy shared at this point in his career “there’s a lot less pressure… because I’m older and I know at this point things are gonna be what they are, and you can’t control it. I used to watch charts and be very analytical… and now I just don’t give a s***.”
Rob + Holly also congratulated Houser on his newborn son, who he accidentally announced during Audacy’s interview at Tortuga Music Festival. Be sure to check out the interview above.
