Actor Leslie Jordan left this world with a lot of love, light, and laughter left to give. While the pain of his death still hangs heavy over many, Country duo LOCASH and Blanco Brown, with the blessing of Leslie’s sister, Cricket, are gifting us with one last spark of Leslie’s love.

Just before his death, Jordan had recorded a new collaboration with LOCASH and Blanco titled, “Let It Slide.” Complete with a music video modeled after The Big Lebowski, the project is now acting as Leslie’s last nod to family and friends, and is undoubtedly putting lasting smiles on all.

Ahead of their set at Audacy’s Stars and Strings pre-party pool party earlier this week, LOCASH shared how the project came to be and how they plan to honor his memory with its release.

“Leslie invited us, along with a guy named Dan Myer, who wrote the song, and actually also wrote, ‘I Love This Life,’ with us and, ‘Truck Yeah,’ with us,” Chris Lucas told Audacy’s Rob + Holly.

“Leslie had always wanted to be in Country music, he loved Country music and he said, LOCASH and Blanco, I want you guys!’ We were honored! I know Leslie from watching him on TV and everything… This was a no-brainer for us, we wanted to do it.”

Preston Brust added, “He could’ve picked anybody and we were like, ‘Why us? That’s awesome!’”

Not only did the guys record vocals with Jordan, but also filmed a big-budget music video modeled after The Big Lebowski.

“We re-created The Big Lebowski and it was so much fun,” shared Preston. “Leslie has the bowling shirt on with his name sewn in it and Blanco plays a great part in it. I don’t want to spoil it for anybody — you gotta check it out!”

Not long after wrapping, the guys recalled getting the news of Leslie’s passing and putting an immediate hold on the project’s release out of respect for his family and to grieve the loss of their new friend.

“It was a tough phone call to get,” said Preston. “It was a strange, hard day for us. We knew Leslie really well, but it still just felt like a bad dream and we were going to wake up from it and it was not going to be real.”

It wasn’t long after that the guys got a call from Leslie’s sister, Cricket, encouraging them to move forward with the release in Leslie’s honor. “They reached out and they said, ‘Leslie’s been wanting to put this out, he wants to show all his friends what he’s been working with and what he’s been working on,'” said Chris.

Preston concluded, “This is what he would’ve wanted. It brought him so much joy to know that we were having this project together and we’re going to share it with the world.”
