It hasn’t always been about comedy for comedian Greg Warren, who recently released a brand new special, The Salesman, via YouTube.

The 54-year-old recently joined Audacy’s Rob + Holly for a discussion surrounding his journey to becoming a full-time comedian and it all started with Jif peanut butter.

That’s right. Forget Skippy and Peter Pan, it’s all about Jif when it comes to creamy goodness for Warren, who worked in peanut butter sales and takes the matter very seriously. “I sold Jif peanut butter,” he said. ‘Its the best peanut butter, I feel strongly about that.”

While Jiff supported Warren well, he continued to foster his real passion of being a comedian by regularly performing shows on the side. One weekend, while opening at a club in Dayton for Kevin Pollak, he realized full time status could actually be in his reach.

“When I was still working with Procter & Gamble and Jif, I used to work at this club in Dayton, Ohio called Jokers,” he explained. I opened for Kevin Pollak very funny comedian… I went there and I did the whole weekend and it was sold out all weekend. At the end of the weekend, Kevin was like, ‘Hey, you don’t do this full time, right?’ And I was like, ‘No, I don’t.’ And he was like, ‘You could!’”

He continued, “The next day I went to work and I just couldn’t get it out of my head that Kevin Pollock said I could be a comedian. I was making like six-figures and I had stock options and the first year of comedy, I probably made about $12,000.”

The dream has continued to flourish for Warren who has now established himself as a comedian and has full-time work. Hear more about his recent special, love for peanut butter, and homemade Twinkies by tuning in to his full conversation with Rob + Holly above.
