Chayce Beckham | Friday Night Takeover

View descriptionShare

Recently earning his first CMT Awards nomination for Breakthrough Male Artist Video of the Year with “23,” and climbing the Country charts with the same Platinum single, Chayce Beckham has a lot to celebrate. All this before the release of his debut album, Bad For Me, which he detailed in a recent chat with Audacy’s Rob + Holly.

“I really do love every song and every one that’s on there is something special to me,” Beckham said of the project, releasing April 5. “I can listen to the album from beginning to end and that’s something I’m really proud of — that It’s something I enjoy from beginning to end.”

Contrary to the title, Beckham shared the creative process was a good one for him, allowing him to dive deep into his emotions and thoughts through singing and songwriting. The product is a truthful album centered around vices of the world.

“A constant thing for me was sorting out your vices and all the things that are bad for you, you just gotta break away from certain things,” he said, acknowledging the title. “I felt like once I listened to the whole project, it really covered everything… it’s a theme that continues throughout the entire album.”

Beckham is already bringing the new songs on the road with his current Bad For Me Tour, and will continue to do so this summer as he joins Luke Bryan’s Mind of A Country Boy Tour. The trek is a special one for Beckham, who knows Bryan well from his time of American Idol. While not their first tour together, Beckham is excited to continue learning from Luke, who remains a regular mentor for him.

“One of the serious moments I’ve had with Luke — one of the few times we were being serious — he took me fishing right when I moved to Nashville and we had a heart to heart,” Beckham shared. “He gave me a ton of advice that I feel like I still listen to and carry to this day that has really helped me through this whole process [and] navigating through new-found fame and putting new music out and touring — just the industry and the business itself... Anything that I’ve ever needed he’s always been there, a phone call away, and that’s something I appreciate more than anything.”
