Nothing is off-limits when it comes to Country music and GRAMMY-winning Country artist, Ashley McBryde proves it time and time again.

From calling out her naysayers with “Girl Goin’ Nowhere,” to the boldly executed “One Night Standards,” and “Brenda Put Your Bra On,” McBryde is always pulling inspiration from everyday life and this time it’s comin’ from the kitchen.

McBryde’s new single, “Light On In The Kitchen,” is a sentimental ode to a gesture she and her family hold near and dear of leaving a light on in the kitchen.

“There’s always a light on in my kitchen, always one on in mama’s, my sister always has one on,” McBryde said of the inspiration behind the song. “Even if it’s just the refrigerator light.”

As she started to explore the idea more, McBryde soon realized everything the light on represents to her, and many others around the world. “We know that the light on is on for comfort — all across the world it is,” she said. “It’s also a way to say ‘I’m thinking of you.’ The same comfort that you get from being around with a light on in the kitchen… it’s also like, ‘If you need me, I’m here.'”

McBryde says the song quickly took shape as a nod to her mother, as well as all the other mothers and those who offer comfort, support and light.

“It’s definitely inspired by my mother, but all of our mothers,” McBryde said. “And our sisters and people that had a hand in raising us.”
