It is impossible for us to comprehend what William Bradford and the other Separatists faced when they left England (and Holland) on the Mayflower to come to America in the early 17th century. What they faced in terms of cruel winters, no food, attacks from the natives, sickness, and even treason, is hard to imagine, yet Bradford managed to keep the people together at Plymouth Colony and was elected governor. The book on his life called William Bradford: Plymouth's Rock by Geoff & Janet Benge is this week's entry on Rick's Reading List.
