Great group and I believe we even had the Mayor of Birmingham with him, so it'll be an interesting group. We got a lot to talk about. We're sitting here on the Coca Cola porch in the Coca Cola tent, got it like and right on cue A lotmore goes by as we are broadcasting live, so a lot to talk about. Let's bring him in though, sitting over my left, ready to go. And this is when he starts acting like he loves golf. We're talking about Greg Burgess and then right beside him, it is homesy. What's up boys? How you doing?
I think I'm gonna start playing today?
Do you really you're gonna start playing golf? You're in in this tournament yeah, gentlemen, how are you'all? Hey, we're good. How get say that to me this morning? I know he gets he gets caught her things, he said, when I picked you a little man up, Yeah, little man, I love that. It is tough to get into. But once you're here, it's nice.
It is nice. The weather's good right now, it's cool. Yeah, is good. It's gonna get hot and we're gonna be miserable.
Besides that, we do have the red Coca Cola golden ticket seats set up, red golden. You're right here in front of us. You got a little VIP action, see I call it. On the other side of the wall, you're in.

And so we've got quite a group that is going to be with us today. I know that Tommy Toberville will probably be with us early today. They hadn't handled the list of people we either need to say yes or no to. But we got a slew of folks here. Now. If it'll be like most years, everybody will come in the last in like maybe twenty minutes span. Everybody will be standing here at the same time.

Hey, guys, we got to go with something else, and this has actually worked out so luckily we're on here. At one point I was like, well, guys, we might be in the studio and sending Bubba out, you know, but it looks like Adler's getting set up. If you're listening to us on YouTube, that's right listening. That's the way it's going to be today. You're not having technical difficulty but getting audio only today, and then Adam will be getting footage and then you know, putting something together like he always does, and then that'll be a YouTube feature that we have. I think this might be the wild card group, y'all all right, listen to these personalities, John Daly, Taylor Hicks, Clay Travis, John Bell, leaders lead singer of Widespread Panic, and coach Kirby Smart of Georgia. I feel sorry for Coach Smart of all that he is going to have a blast though yin that group does interest me. And I'm gonna tell you why. It has nothing to do with the coach.

I love Kirby, okay, uh, but Clay Travis being in that group for some reason intrigues me. And look, he is a very intelligent guy and has a very successful career in the media, and what he does, he just does things a little differently than most people. And and and I don't agree with him one hundred percent, but I do like the guy and I know that he you know, he'll now heal use some language.

And so he's an interesting follow, is a very interesting follow. But I would like to hang out with him today at some point.

Uh, so that's gonna be an interesting group. That's kind of a mind to Travis. You know how, we'll do minea Greg mine. I would like to know what's going on in Clay Travis's mind.

Also, Chip Lindsay will be with b I guess ten off at twelve ten with Tom Kite, and that's of course with Troy. And it says Rocky Felker is gonna be here from MISSOPPI state that's interesting, bulldog.

So anyway, and then you've got some good friends of the show that have have had a history with the show. Greg McElroy will tee off today, Jay Barker, John Parker Wilson, Stan White, Brandon Cox. There's a record for running in nursing clothing.
Correct, and you know it's the old skirt and a skirt. Yeah, pretty uncomfortable. I don't know if they had to actually do the shoes, but I'm with you. If we're going to do it, when you do it one hundred percent. Then she ran in scrubs, broke the record and they said, hey, not so fast, you're you not you'r you can't. We can't have this.
That they did. Didn't they say it tell her ahead of time? They did?
There was it was in the rules. I don't know if they actually said, hey, you can't wear this today and expect to do this, but it was the story. But after after an outcry, she has been awarded. First of all, they've got some nurses organization. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the nurses organization that she was representing got mad and they're like, what are you talking about? Well, they don't have to be they can celebrate she she now has the record, even though she was in her trousers. And I don't like this. I know, I'm with Greg. I don't really care that. I don't even know why they have this record. Okay, that's a little much. But the mob mentality that we always talk about and we outcry, and even though it's the letter of the law and it says this is what you have to do, this person didn't do it because of the outcry. Now we're going to give it to her. I don't like that.
Now we're talking about the ever popular nurses record, you know, robably not quite as big a story as say, the Kentucky Derby controversy we have going no, but which I guess in their world, if you're in this nursing organizations world that was really upset about it, I guess to them it's just as big, right, I would think, Yeah, I would go, who's that upset about? Well?
I will say this. Okay, let me ask you this. Let's let's pretend Greg, pretend Greg was a nurse. Okay, okay, hold only look at it.

And if you're just tuning in, we are all location. If you hear lawnmore's in the back, you're not freak. Don't freak out because you're thinking you're hearing stuff. You do hear lawn mores in the back. That's part of a live show, you know this. This is that moment too, where where God wishes he was playing golf. I wish I was mowing and rolling that green up there, like this is the only time where I want to do in a mascot outfit.

So let's get back to Greg pretending like he's a female nurse. Let's pretend that is he got slick face. No, I'm a female, he's a female.

Sarah runs this marathon and breaks the record, the nursing record, the nursing record, and she does it in the proper uniform that she's supposed to do it in in three hours, eight minutes and fifty four seconds. Oh, I got that hat and everything. Now, yeah here this time last week, two weeks, three hours, eight minutes and twenty two seconds. Okay, okay, so we've got thirty seconds here. Difference. Wow, Now, I think the skirt probably makes the difference if it's that close, I believe it. I don't think she breaks the record in the skirt. But but wouldn't a skirt feel better than scrub pants? Well, I don't think it's a skow don't you You don't feel free? No free, But you gotta wear the hat. I mean, tennis belle, you know the female tennis players.

It's a nursing skirt, right, So I guess that. I mean, I don't know the difference.

Trying to remember they go past your knees. Okay, yeah, I don't know, you know, like litle Lex can breathe. What I'm saying is that that that's I mean, hey, it's close. It's not like she beat it by like that point. That was close. The Lady fifteen protest take me out by day, That's what you would say. So there's your update. I want y'all to see yeah, all right now, I'm really going to bring y'all in here. Okay, Uh, do you see where those golf carts were coming. Look, look right in front of you. That golf cart just came. You walk right. We see those guys on that you practice tea over there with the golf cart. You walk right past that, and that there's a little there's a little cart path that goes and it just runs right along the driving range. I went right over there. You see that. You see that big tree just to the right of those two, That's where I took my pants off right there. Yeah, how many years ago was that?
Because I think for like twentyeth anniversary, twenty fifth anniversary or something, you need to rerun it, you think.
And here I wouldn't well, and I want to point it's hadn't been that long.
But you know what I'm saying, you know, like a twenty fifth.
Alright, So let me point this ass be because we went to break You thought it was kind of outlandish that I said go to the gold post and get back it. And you know, Rick, I guess we need to set the stage for the nation. This is the region's tradition. It's a major event on the Champions Tour. That's the over fifty players. It is at Graystone Country Club, which is just outside beautiful Birmingham, Alabama, and we will be blessed with a lot of folks coming through today, a lot of SEC coaches and various things, and we always have a lot of fun here. It's been a tradition, Rick. I remember back before I even lived in town, I used to come and spend the night with you so we could get over here and do this show.

So I'm gonna get right behind that big oak tree over there and try to wrap a club around it.

Now, usually my second shot has been a total disaster. But you know, most of the people don't see that now.
But you're concerned about any hole today, You're even you're not even feeling good about it.
Well, I mean, usually I get out and I'll I'll hit a bucket of balls or two and maybe play nine holes, and you know, come out here and you know, I'm I'm a high handicap golfer. I never play, but I enjoy it. We have fun. But this year it has been extremely minimal, Rick, because you know, time and the way everything fell with tennis season ending, and and then I got out. And when I got out, I kind of pulled my back, and you know, having back spasms and trying to hit a golf ball is not a good combination most of the time.

I can't get a soul. I'm gonna have to call for a trainer. They're paid to have to do.

Yeah, now your wife went to the beach. I understand that he's gone. I'm talking about the comment that you did you even actually utter if you've thought about maybe being there? What before come back from the beach arty, which one of that had been wait till it's over. There was no there was no how hard did she laugh when you even.
Well, I know, you know, I'm glad that she could go and have a good time and and all you know, there's probably better weeks of the year to go for me, you know, but I'm glad she could go. Yeah, I'm not worried about it.
So we're gonna have to get you cause I'm gonna tell you this. I've looked at your I've looked at these so you know, there's there's lines that you can't even cross with friends. And getting someone to take your lower back while you show them your rear end, that.

And we've had some incidents here at at the old Legacy and u a Graystone golfing Country club, and a lot of them go way back. One just goes back to last year.

And it involved our next guest, and of course that is is that two years ago. It seems so fresh and because it's still stings so much, and that is Tommy Tuberville. Tommy, welcome back to Rick and Boat twenty five years Yeah, tricked the American peek. Well, you know, whatever whatever it takes, I'm telling it right. And how about this? When you see what we've done, it makes you think things are possible, like you winning the Senator. Yeah, I mean.
It's anything's possible.
It gives you hope. Why would you do this? I mean, why would you run?
And if for those not aware, Tommy Tubers has declared and is a candidate for the USA, A strong.
Candidate from Alabama.
Because I'm telling you that I'm gonna be hard to be because I know how to work.
Right.
Let me tell you this. All you got to do is watch TV at night. This world in our country has lost it, no doubt, thank God, and I do thank God every day that we got Donald Trump elected two years ago. I could not imagine where we would be today had he not got elected. My son asked me when he was running down. Were you you and both for him? I said, yeah, here's two reasons. He's a patriot and he doesn't need your money. He is going to do it his way. And I'm telling you he's done an outstanding job, even with all the swamp and the media after him every day, and he is I'm telling you now, he has got to win. All other elections are off. I mean, he has got to win the next election. Yeah, he's got to get four more years. And then, of course I want to go to the Senate to help him. I'm not a politician, don't want to be one. I'm an outsider like him. I'm a Christian conservative and pro life. Quit spending money, you know. Uh, I'm somebody I've always believed this. Hey get a budget up there, pass it, or you don't get paid.
Do your job. You do your job in the Congress. Do that.
And I'm so sick of it. And I got a chance. I don't need the money. I'm gonna go up there and work for free, and I'm gonna go up there and make my name known for the people of state Alabama. People Alabama want a conservative. I don't know how we got the Democrat up there. It just happened to work out that way. He almost cost us a Supreme Court justice. The main job really of a president and a Senate is to get great American judges in office, and he started that. He's having a hard time getting a lot of them confirmed. But he'll continue to do that. And if we can, we can save this country for at least another significant amount of time if we can just do that, if we can get him elected and get more Supreme Court and other judges on the seat across the country in the right positions.
So bottom line is, because you just mentioned it, you know, you you're you kind of got your life like we all hope to be able to do. You still got your help. You survived being a football coach, which which can kill any about us.
Right, and you survive that, You survive the Senate.
You know, and and you really it sounds like it was just something you felt like our country is on such a tight rope on which way it's gonna sway, which way it's gonna go, that you just felt like as a citizen.
That got to get involved.
Well, you know that's what it sounds like. I've had the ability to travel. First of all, for forty years I've been in education, and I've seen it kind of slowly disentegrate for those forty years. We took prayer out of the schools in the mid sixties. When we did that, it's really going downhill.
We got a lot to show for that, don't we.
Oh, I'm telling you well, and let me give you all little step. There's ten states, Texas being one of them. That there's another religion that can have five prayers a day in the school. If we say the Lord's Prayer, our kids get sent home wrong. There's a double standard in this country. And if we don't stand up and start speaking out for God, prayer and the values that we need to get back, we're not gonna be a country anymore.

If people need to get their head out out of a hole and listen what's going on. It is getting bad and worse. And if we lose Texas and what's happening the border, that's part of the turn it.
It's all it is.
Well, they're want to turn it blue, and they're going they're almost blue now. And if they get it blue, they have Texas, California, Illinois, New York and almost Florida. You'll not see another conservative Republican president in our lifetime if that happens. Yeah, and that ought to scare the heck gout it.
Well, we do stories every day and bub how many times have we said this to your point about Texas As We get a story and you look down and it's something crazy like the mayor of Houston when she tried to get the pastors to turn their messages in son so she could delete anything that that had anything to do with God's standard on sexuality and marriage and in order to terrify it. Now, it didn't work. She she was not able to do it, but she wanted to. And that's Houston. So you start looking at these stories out of Texas as you thought you would never see. So, yeah, Texas is not the Texas we once knew, and you got to be careful what happens there. Yeah.
The big cities have absolutely turned about as far left as you can go, and they're going to need the help of the federal government because they can't pay their bills because you know, they're sanctuary cities.
I don't know if you've I went to New York.
My son Tucker works in New York investment banker Gilianni and Bloomberg had that place cleaned up, less crime. You go up there now, it's embarrassing. You know, there's trash on the streets that stinks, and.
So it's back the way it was before. Judownie.
Well, but they you know, the communists, Mayor Deblasio who's going to run for president. I mean, he wants everybody to have a home on the streets. I mean, you've got to be kidding me. I mean it is, it's absolutely embarrassing. And you know, our fathers, you know, and parents and grandparents you know, fall for this country, and it's just amazing. You know, we've but we've lost one point five million and more since revolutionary were one point five million. We've killed sixty million babies in that same money, sixty million. What the heck are we doing? I mean, we have lost it. We have lost our morals and you've got people now that want to kill babies after being born.
Tommy, Tommy, and I don't say this lot that we're going to have to apologize to Nazi Germany for what we Oh yeah, yeah, we think we think about how bad all of that was, and it was we're worse.
Yeah, we're speaker in Parliament, says Donald Trump. Can't come speak to parliament. This is in London. We've saved there butt twice in Europe in two wards. Biled them out, bailed them out, build them, built them back. The American people, not our president, our money, our tax money, our taxpayer, and they are there are draining us.

We're twenty two tree in debt. You know, if you can't balance, if you can't get a budget up there, don't get you don't get paid. I'm a true believer in that the correct rotate politicians here and there, and then they get to go out after the politician, and they can be a lobbyist. They can be a lobbyist. I mean, put a stop to that. You're gonna go serve public service, right, You're not gonna work for a lobbyist. When you get out, go home, go home, go home, get your real job.
You know, I don't know if you're a genius or crazy to me, I really don't.
Well, I tell you, I love this country. I love the state. You know, I love the South.
You know.
I love college football, love sports, love kids. I work with kids all my life, and it scares me, you know, just watching some of these whack jobs on television in Congress, just talking about how bad we are in this country. We you know, and of course President Obama, you know, had the apology tour. You know, we're oologize for being number one. If we're if somebody has got to be number one, and if we're not. You know, we help every country in the world, and if we can't survive, we can't help them. Right, so we've got to be the leader. And so that's what's not us then? Who yeah, nobody else. Let me tell you all, been to any other country? Just Paris is on fire, London's on fire, Venezuela's gone. Uh, you know, maybe Australia because there's far away from everything down there. They they kind of live their own life.
Yeah.
So but it's I'm excited about this, you know. I I think I can win it. I think the people from Alabama want somebody like me to go step up there and say listen, enough is enough. One person can't do it all, but you can. My job in forty years has been the leadership, pulling people together, communicating. I've talked to other senators and they say, Coach you'd be perfect. We need people up here with common sense.
We got to find we got to find a way to get Alabama fans to vote for you. I mean what that is, That is the elephant in the room. Whether whether we like it or not, I'm somewhat joking, man.
We agree wellically, but but you know how this works. Remember we had the trash can conversation.
Remember I said what I forgot on the humorous side, right, if it wasn't for me, they wouldn't have Nick Saban. I ran therest of them all, but only on the humor side. But on the on the real side. This ain't a game, folks, This ain't a game. This is all Talk to your other people that are running for this position and see if they talk like I do in terms of we got to get it done. I mean, number one, this is not about football. Trump's got to get a reelected. If Trump doesn't get re elected, it doesn't care, it doesn't matter who you send to the Senate. You got to get him reelected. And then you've got to send people that will help him get things through the Senate. We've got we've got some people in the Senate now that I mean they say they're Republicans. Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, Well we have to beg them, he has to beg them.
Yeah we got we got one from this state. It ain't representing us at all, No, at all.
Well, what you need to do is of everything you said and all of it is, there are a lot of people that feel exactly the way you do. And then what you need to do is continue to lay down because I think the American people, the people of this state are getting to the point that the word politician is starting to make them nauseated. Makes me sick, and I think one of the one of the things that you can any any of them back there. And I've had friends who've stepped up to and the thing that has helped in the most is, Hey, we're not from all this. We're just coming, Like the founding fathers wanted out of what we were doing for a living, and now we're going out to serve our country. And we've never we've never been career politicians. And it seems to be that those kind of people are making the most change right now.
Yeah, politically correctness is killing us, double standard is killing us. People need to speak what that you know, we don't need to be bligerate. We got to talk about this country. This country is about you know, America, about the Constitution, and these judges.
Want to rewrite it. You know. Oh, we don't need the constitution. We don't need to.
Bring out college.
Yeah we are got one. Let's go.
But it's saved us for almost two hundred and fifty years. Yeah, Yeah, it worked pretty dang good. And it's I'd like to see.

So Chris Hodges was walking by pastors. He was drawn to what we were doing. The of course, a pastor of Church of the Highlands with a you know, they've got campuses, how many now twenty twenty different campuses, and so a lot of you are probably go to some of these campuses, or if not, you've heard of the work that they have continued to do in a day for you to kind of relax a little bit, you know, I've noticed there's one thing about you. People don't know what's that. And the times you and I have talked, we all have this assumption, and I think it's it's wonderful that you must just be overrun and overworked and running the ground. And you've made it clear to me, and it's it's helped me with my own life that that's not the case, because the way your life is managed is managed correctly. First of first of all, you got to surround yourself with good people. You certainly can't do it all yourself. And but but you don't even with this kind of task. Your life does not have to be running the ground because and you certainly have managed your life in a way that that's not the case.
Well, actually, I really really enjoyed my life. I love what I do. I'm kind of disciplined by nature, so that definitely helps. So I'm real strict with the time, what I where I allow the the other things to jump in and take so and I'm real disciplined with my day off.
And it's all that really helps.
I mean, like you know, I'm just glad to because usually when I see you're on the screen, No, this.

Well, I tell people that go to the campus where I speak live, I actually when I'm looking at the camera and I say, hey, if you're wondering what it's like to see me live, don't ask the people here, because they're looking at the screen too.
It's guys have done a wonderful job.
It's to God be the glory. I'm really grateful. I'm nobody more amazed than me, that's for sure.
Well, yeah, if you if you if one of the things, if you're looking for something supernatural, look at what's happened in your life. I said that all the time. I said, if you can't see how, how how there's been a supernatural change and those of us that have been redeemed. And that's the problem is a lot of people walk around claiming they're redeemed, but they have been changed, and that's really not possible.
And the people who know me know me, I know that's true all the more, you know, So yeah, they really they are the most amazed.
So I've had people say, birderstood, what gosh, you just must be real, you know, because I knew before Jesus who he was so. But but one of the things you were talking about, Adrian Rodgers made a great statement Mama style it silence for that great Bible teacher. But uh, he said, if you're bothered by the size of my church, he said, just sit up front, don't ever look back.
I'm gonna use that. I really like that.
He said. Then you will be in a maka church. You know you can be right turning a little one. Just sit up front. That's right.
Well, aside from that, how's your golf game?
Well, it normally by this time of the year it'saxly in good shape. But the weather hadn't cooperated with my days off, so, uh, this is going to be really interesting out there today. So I'm playing with Corey Paven at eight o'clock.
That's good, Yeah, good protoce.
So I'm looking forward to it.
I've done it. I've been in this several times. It's a lot of fun and I appreciate Regions for the imitation and but yes, it give me a fun day.
Do you remember when Corey played and this is way back and he had these Cleveland irons. It was kind of a new design, was rounded and that rainbow looking pattern on the back of it. You remember that I always wanted to set of those clubs, and I just thought, you know, and now of course they're you know, they're ancient history. Nobody would want them anymore. But I thought, man, if I had that set of clubs, I could probably golf too.
Well. Plus now you can't put a rainbow on either, right, that's true, and we thank you for that.
