A smart positional player who had the luxury of playing outside the great Reg Gasnier, Dragons flyer Johnny King scored a remarkable six tries in six consecutive grand finals from 1960 to 1965.

The Dragons’ record try-scorer, King also played 15 Tests for Australia during an era packed with outstanding wingers.

This morning, we caught up with the great Johnny King, who phoned Richard King to reveal he’ll be presenting the Provan-Summons Trophy to the winner of the 2026 NRL Grand Final between the Newcastle Knights and Sydney Roosters.
