In a 6 to 3 decision, the court ultimately determined that the plaintiffs lacked standing to bring the suit—consequently, the case will be returned to a lower court. But if states don’t have standing, then who does? In his scathing dissent, Justice Samuel Alito argues, “high-ranking government officials placed unrelenting pressure on Facebook to suppress Americans’ free speech. Because the court unjustifiably refuses to address this serious threat to the First Amendment, I respectfully dissent.” Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch also dissented.

Being president isn’t just a day job; it’s an everything-everywhere-all-at-once job.
